NetworkNewsBreaks – EVIO, Inc. (EVIO) Posts Fiscal Q2 2018 Financial Results

EVIO, Inc. (OTCQB: EVIO), a leading provider of cannabis testing and scientific research for the regulated cannabis industry, this morning announced financial and operating results for the quarter and six months ended March 31, 2018. Among other highlights, the company reported revenue for the second quarter of $732,311, a decrease of $56,415 or 12.1% from the second quarter last year. Revenue from the six months ending March 31, 2018, however, was $1,679,176, an increase of $177,997 or 11.9% from the same period in 2017. “EVIO’s second quarter focused greatly on broadening the company’s portfolio. With our recent private placement of $5.973 million, we expanded the company’s footprint by acquiring additional labs, namely in California, a market that we have identified as having unparalleled potential,” EVIO CEO William Waldrop stated in the news release. “We expect the state of California to enforce mandated compliance testing by July 1, 2018. With operational facilities in both Humboldt and Berkeley and the goal of further expansion into the state, we feel like EVIO is well-positioned to meet California’s demand for cannabis testing. Another significant milestone was our entrance into the Canadian market and launched EVIO Canada with the acquisition of Keystone Labs ahead of the country’s legalization of adult recreational use this summer.”

Science and commercial satellites launched from California

May 23, 2018

LOS ANGELES — A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket successfully launched a pair of U.S.-German science satellites and five commercial communications satellites into orbit from California on Tuesday. The rocket roared off from a pad at Vandenberg Air Force Base at 12:47 p.m. and arced over the Pacific Ocean west of Los Angeles as it headed toward the South Pole. Its upper stage deployed the research satellites minutes after reaching orbit. The satellites for Iridium Communications' next-generation fleet were released in a process completed a little more than an hour after liftoff. The Falcon 9's first stage was previously used for...

VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. — The Latest on the launch of seven satellites from California (all times local): 2:10 p.m. A SpaceX rocket launched from California has successfully deployed five communications satellites. The first stage of the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket was used previously for a launch in January. There...

APNewsbreak: Pentagon adopts new cellphone restrictions

May 23, 2018

WASHINGTON — After months of debate, the Defense Department approved Monday new restrictions for the use of cellphones and some other electronic devices in the Pentagon where classified information is present or discussed. But officials stopped far short of imposing an all-out ban. The memo, which was obtained by The Associated Press, largely clarifies current procedures and calls for stricter adherence to long-held practices that require phones be left in storage containers outside secure areas where sensitive matters are discussed. But it makes clear that cellphones can still be used in common areas and other offices in the Pentagon if...

Experts: China far side lunar mission potentially historic

May 23, 2018

BEIJING — China's ambition to soft-land a spacecraft on the far side of the moon later this year faces considerable challenges, but if successful would propel the country's space program to the forefront of one of the most important areas of lunar exploration, experts say. China hopes to be the first country to complete such a landing. On Monday, it launched a relay satellite to facilitate communication between controllers on Earth and the upcoming Chang'e 4 mission. The moon's far side is also known as the dark side because it faces away from Earth and remains comparatively unknown. Creating the...

Consumer Reports raises concerns over Tesla Model 3 braking

May 23, 2018

DETROIT — Long emergency stopping distances, difficult-to-use controls and a harsh ride stopped Tesla's Model 3 electric car from getting a recommended buy rating from Consumer Reports. While the magazine said the car has exhilarating acceleration and handling, testers were troubled by its 152-foot average stopping distance from 60 miles per hour in emergency braking tests. The magazine said the distance was worse than any modern car it has tested, and is about 7 feet longer than a Ford F-150, a full-size pickup truck that weighs about twice as much as a Model 3. Tesla said in a statement that...
